Front desk
Online booking, confirmations and appointment reminders by text — plus the recall list, kept in a state where it can be worked rather than admired.
Practice management software for independent optometry and optical shops — one system for booking, intake, prescriptions, work orders, recalls, and the messages that chase them.
Staff sign in to run the front desk, keep clinical records, dispense eyewear, take payment, and see how the business is doing. OpticianOS is early software, currently in private trial with one practice in British Columbia.
Everything the staff console covers today — nothing on this list is a roadmap item.
Online booking, confirmations and appointment reminders by text — plus the recall list, kept in a state where it can be worked rather than admired.
Intake forms completed before the appointment, exam history, and eyeglass and contact-lens prescriptions — held against the retention rules the practice already follows.
Work orders, lab status and frame inventory, so the order a patient is phoning about has an answer attached to it.
Square, Clover and Shopify POS connect per location — a two-store practice keeps a separate merchant for each. Payouts go from the processor straight to the practice's bank.
Google Business Profile, Search Console and Analytics pulled into one weekly picture, instead of three dashboards nobody opens.
AI drafting and summarising for staff, with patient records walled off from the AI providers entirely. Staff review anything before it reaches a patient.
A booking tab, a recall spreadsheet, lab orders on paper, three Google dashboards nobody opens — and a phone that keeps ringing. In most independent practices, the front desk is the integration layer. OpticianOS was built to take that job off a person and give it to software.
Booking, records, lab status and payments each live somewhere different, and the gaps between them are bridged by memory and sticky notes. One console holds the day instead.
Confirmations, reminders and recalls are the first thing dropped on a busy day. OpticianOS sends them by text, and keeps the recall list in a state staff can actually work through.
Calls, direction requests, search results and website visits sit in three separate Google dashboards. Pulled into one weekly picture, they become something an owner actually reads.
Staff sign in to a single web console. The day's appointments, the recall queue, lab orders and the week's figures are on one screen — not four browser tabs.
Connecting Google is optional, and the practice chooses to do it. Once connected, OpticianOS reads the practice's own Google Business Profile performance and reviews, its Search Console search results, and its Google Analytics website figures, and brings them together into one weekly picture instead of three dashboards nobody opens. It can also draft Business Profile posts and review replies, which a staff member reviews and approves before anything is published.
Reads the practice's Business Profile performance and reviews. Drafts posts and review replies that a staff member approves before anything is published.
Reads the practice's own Search Console results — the searches that surface the practice. Read-only; nothing is changed.
Reads the practice's Google Analytics website figures. Read-only; nothing is changed.
This is the practice's own business and marketing data. No patient information is ever sent to Google, the data is not used for advertising, it is not sold, and it is not used to train AI models. A practice can disconnect at any time from inside OpticianOS or from its Google account permissions. The scope-by-scope detail is in section 9 of the Privacy Policy.
Patient data is stored on servers in Toronto, Canada, and encrypted in transit.
Encrypted on our own server before they are uploaded anywhere, so the storage provider holds ciphertext it cannot read. Restores are rehearsed, not assumed.
Patient records are blocked from reaching AI providers at the network boundary, and the assistant has no tools that read them.
Card data is handled by the payment processor. OpticianOS never stores card numbers and never holds a practice's funds.
Login lockout, rate limiting, role-based access and an audit trail — staff see what their role needs, and access leaves a record.
The full account — including every third party that receives data and why — is in the Privacy Policy.
OpticianOS is an independent Canadian software company, based in British Columbia and built for one industry only: independent optician businesses. It is shaped in daily collaboration with a working optical practice — the recall list, the lab phone calls, the 4:45pm scramble are the problems it was written to fix. And it is deliberately small: one practice in trial, no outside investors, and a system that earns its next practice before it takes it on.

Not yet — OpticianOS is in private trial with one practice while the system proves itself in daily use. There is no self-serve signup on purpose. If you'd like to be next, email privacy@opticianos.com and we'll set up a walkthrough.

No. Patient records are blocked from reaching AI providers at the network boundary, and the assistant has no tools that can read them. It drafts messages and summarises business figures for staff, and staff approve anything before it reaches a patient.
It lets OpticianOS read the practice's own Business Profile, Search Console and Analytics data and combine them into one weekly picture, and draft Business Profile posts and review replies for staff approval. It is optional, read-mostly, never involves patient data, and can be disconnected at any time. Details are in section 9 of the Privacy Policy.
No. Payments run through the practice's own processor — Square, Clover or Shopify — and payouts go from the processor straight to the practice's bank. OpticianOS never holds funds and never stores card numbers.
Pricing isn't published while the trial is running — it will be set with the first practices rather than announced at them. Email us and we'll talk specifics.
